Next Sunday, April 30th, from 12:00pm-1:30pm we are heading to Stanley Park to see the local Great Blue Heron colony located next to the tennis courts.
We are so grateful to be joined by Ross (he/him; Canadian Wildlife Service) and Nadia (she/her; Stanley Park Ecological Society) for this event. Both are experts on the Great Blue Heron and will be there to share knowledge, answer questions, and help us to get to know the local heron colony!
This is a free event, no sign up required, and is open to all levels of birders (especially the never-been-birding-birders!).
Accessibility notes: It is mainly a bird sit, with picnic tables and benches available. Washrooms are nearby at the tennis courts. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We will have binoculars and books available to borrow.
Please note, our work centers the experiences of, and fights for the rights of, people who identify as Indigenous, trans, non-binary, queer, women, disabled, Black, brown, POC, neurodiverse, or any combination thereof, and for the equity of people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. If you don't identify as a member of these groups or an ally, please sit this one out. Thank you!
