This month we’ll be hanging out at Sauvie Island Wildlife Viewing Area for a stationary event which may provide a great opportunity to visit our visiting sandhill crane friends.
Some important information for this excursion: Parking permits are required. A $10 daily permit can be purchased at the Cracker Barrel Grocery as you make your way over the bridge onto the island, or on the ODFW website ahead of time.+ Consider carpooling! Email fbc.pdxchapter@gmail.com if you will need a ride, or if you would like to offer a ride and we will do our best to help coordinate if there is enough interest.
This event is from 9am-12pm. Because it is a stationary location, feel free to come and go as necessary for your needs. We’ll be there.
It is a gravel parking lot with available disabled parking spots, a wheelchair accessible ramp (wood covered in a non-slip tread) up to the wooden viewing platform. There is a wheelchair accessible porta-potty.
We will have a scope and binoculars to share, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
Tea and light snacks provided. Bring your own mug if you like.+ Prepare for the weather and dress appropriately!
Feel free to reach out to our leadership team at fbc.pdxchapter@gmail.com if there are barriers to coming out to this event, and we will do our best to make accommodations. We are also active on our Instagram account or on our Discord server if those are easier for you to navigate.
