The Great Backyard Bird Count is almost here! Join us at 10am at @fonticellofoodforest in Fonticello Park (formerly Carter Jones Park) on the southside for our 2nd annual GBBC! We will briefly go over what GBBC is and why it’s important then spend about 30min birding without tracking our birds to practice ID and then end with at least 30min of keeping track of every bird we see or hear for the count. We have plenty of extra binoculars to lend to folks so come join us & bring a friend! Everyone & anyone is welcome to join.
If you can’t make it you can participate from your own backyard too via the Merlin Bird ID app or eBird. To learn more go to www.birdcount.org
If you’d like to bring some nonperishable items to leave in the dry goods pantry at the food forest it would be greatly appreciated! There is some parking available at the food forest and along the gravel road up to it but if you are able please park on Perry St. and walk up the gravel part of W. 27th St. past the basketball courts to find us.

We will be staying within the vicinity of Fonticello Food Forest and walking slowly, less than 1/2 mile of walking, on grass and mulch. There are multiple picnic benches and logs for folks who need a place to rest. There is a portapotty about a 5min walk away. If you have any other questions, send us a dm!
