Birding for a Better World: The Feminist Bird Club's BIRDING FOR A BETTER WORLD illustrates how anyone can engage in the activity of birding, and support equity and environmental justice at the same time, making an excellent gift or self-purchase for seasoned birders and beginners alike, as well as for nature lovers, social justice activists, and anyone seeking actionable information about accessibility and inclusivity in the bird watching community.

About the speakers:
MARTHA HARBISON (they/them) is the co-organizer of Feminist Bird Club NYC, former vice president of Feminist Bird Club, Inc., and co-founder of the Galbatross Project, a project that focuses on the importance of female birds in birding, ornithology, and avian ecology. They are also an editor, a journalist, and an appreciator of cats. They are terrible at embroidery but that hasn't stopped them from doing it anyway.
SYDNEY GOLDEN ANDERSON (she/her) is a maker, grower, and friend of pollinators. She earned a BS in ecology from UNC Asheville and an MA in community-based education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the senior community habitat coordinator for the National Wildlife Federation and lives in the foothills of Colorado.
About the moderator:
RACHEL CARGLE (she/her) is an Akron, Ohio born writer, entrepreneur and philanthropic innovation. Her work and her book, A Renaissance of Our Own, centers the reimagining of womanhood, solidarity and self and how we are in relationship with ourselves and one another. In 2018 she founded The Loveland Foundation, Inc., a non-profit offering free therapy to Black women and girls. Her umbrella company, The Loveland Group houses a collection of Rachel’s social ventures, including Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre – an innovative literacy space designed to amplify, celebrate and honor the work of writers who are often excluded from traditional cultural, social and academic canons. Rachel lives & loves in Brooklyn, New York.
