NYC - Female Bird Day

Join FBC’s Jeana and Martha at Jamaica Bay NWR and learn about all the ways you can spot some of the most overlooked birds in North America. Martha and their colleagues Purbita, Stephanie, Joanna, and Brooke founded The Galbatross Project in 2019 to document all of the ways that one could identify a female bird of a particular species, from plumage to vocalization to behavior and beyond. What we learned is that looking for female birds completely changes the way you approach birding and the outdoors—in our opinion for the better.

Plus it’s also spring so that means we’ll probably see some really cool shorebirds in Jamaica Bay, hear baby Osprey yelling for unprocessed fish sticks, and maybe even say hi to a Clapper Rail.
