Join us for the first of three outings this year in collaboration with Out in the Woods Occidental Pride. Let’s kick off the Occidental Pride celebration by birding together and reveling in the breathtaking views from Bodega Head.

For more information and to RSVP, please visit EventBrite!

Bodega Head is a rocky headland that forms the entrance to Bodega Harbor and is a great location to spot migrating whales (in late winter through spring, so we’ll be going back next year), coastal wildflowers, and of course, BIRDS!!

We will be birding along the coastal bluffs where we might see Brandt’s and Pelagic cormorants, Pigeon Guillemot, Black Oystercatcher, Savannah Sparrow, and more.

Afterwards we will head down to Campbell Cove beach for picnicking, merriment, and naturally, more birding (BYO picnic, we’ll bring something to share). We are so excited to be a part of Occidental Pride and for another opportunity to bird and hang with you lovelies.

We'll be strolling or sitting around Bodega Head (we might break into smaller groups depending on interest) to observe birds and other wildlife together. We will start by the cliffs adjacent to the parking lot and check out the pelagic species. There are picnic tables and benches for those who want to sit here. For those wishing to stroll, we will continue along the Bodega Head Trail, birding along the bluffs and the coastal prairie. More expert birders will be there to share some tips for learning how to ID different species. Around 11am we will head down the hill to Campbell Cove beach for some extracurricular social time. Let’s share snacks and stories while we hang on the beach and look for surprise birds in the Cove.

Note: This is not a formal guided tour or instructional experience – it's a community gathering to bird together.
