For more information and to RSVP, please visit EventBrite

Join Feminist Bird Club Chicago and Spark Bird Project to bring in the Spring Equinox with your Spark Bird. What is a spark bird? It is described by birders as the bird that sparked their interest into birding. To be human is to have a connection with nature, but there’s usually a point in time that stands out in our memories, perhaps from childhood or more recently. This is our spark moment. A spark bird doesn’t have to be novel it just has to capture your being.

The bringer of Spring, or the American Robin is one of those often overlooked birds that may the spark for many! What is the story of your spark bird?

Jennifer Lodi-Smith, PhD (she/her), director of the Spark Bird Project will join us to share more about the project, stories of spark birds, and the importance of spark birds to conservation. There will be an opportunity to collectively share our stories and be a part of the community science of documenting our stories. Our Feminist Bird Club community believes everyone is a birder, there are far more LGBTQIA, women and disabled birders in our clubs than within the average birding community making it vital that our stories are shared. There will always be the option to opt out of having your story in the community science component.

This program will be held virtually, attendees who register will receive a zoom link.
